Sample itinerary
This sample itinerary is offered as a guideline. The trip focus, length and itinerary/activities can be tailored to meet your learning objectives.

- Day
Day 1 - Welcome to Madrid
Arrive in Madrid and transfer to your accommodation by coach. It’s time to learn Spanish in Madrid!
Start your journey with a visit to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. While exploring its remarkable art collection, participate in a guided tour conducted in Spanish, designed to enhance both your appreciation of art and your language skills. Discover the stories behind masterpieces from the 13th to the 20th century, learning about the historical and cultural contexts that influenced artists like Titian, Van Gogh, and Kandinsky.
In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, practising your Spanish, then relax at your accommodation.
Day 2 - Guided Walking Tour of Madrid, Royal Palace and Temple of Debod
Begin the day bright and early at one of Madrid's language schools. Enjoy the first of your two classes, carefully planned to suit your students’ needs and abilities.
After lunch, meet your guide for a walking tour of Madrid, conducted entirely in Spanish. This tour will take you through the heart of the city, exploring the historic Habsburg streets. As you visit the Royal Palace, La Almudena Cathedral, Plaza de Oriente, Plaza Mayor, San Miguel Market, and Puerta del Sol, your guide will share the rich history and traditions of Madrid, helping you to expand your Spanish vocabulary related to history and architecture.
In the late afternoon, immerse yourself in Spanish culture through a choice of activities: a Flamenco or Castanets class to learn the basics of these traditional Spanish dance forms while improving your language skills through music and movement, or a Spanish cooking class to discover the secrets of traditional Spanish cuisine by preparing dishes like paella or tapas. You could even choose a Spanish guitar workshop to learn about the history of the Spanish guitar and its influence on Spanish music.
End the day by attending a traditional Flamenco show, where you can experience the passionate music and dance that are integral to Spanish culture.
Day 3 - Prado Museum, Reina Sofia Museum and Retiro Park
Return to our Spanish language school for your second intensive Spanish course in Madrid. Explore new vocabulary or practise conversation in preparation for the afternoon’s free time.
This afternoon, learn about Spanish culture and heritage by visiting Madrid's most iconic museums. Start by visiting the Prado Museum, Spain’s main national art museum and home to one of the finest collections of European art from the 12th to the 20th century. You could have a Spanish-speaking guide lead you through the works of Spanish masters like Goya and Velázquez, as well as other European artists. Continue your immersion into Spanish art and culture by visiting the Reina Sofía Museum, which focuses on the 20th century. Students can see Pablo Picasso's iconic Guernica, exploring the devastating impact of the Spanish Civil War.
Later on, enjoy a stroll in the former royal gardens of Retiro Park, one of Madrid's largest and liveliest parks. It’s the perfect place to practise your conversation.
Day 4 - Fly Home
Depending on your flight time, spend your last morning in Madrid shopping for souvenirs and practising your Spanish with local vendors. Visit Calle Mayor for a mix of history and shopping, or explore the vibrant Mercado de San Antón for local specialties.
Return to your accommodation to collect your luggage and transfer to the airport by coach, after an incredible Spanish language school trip to Madrid.
