- Day
Day 1 - Welcome to Madrid
Arrive Madrid and transfer to your accommodation by coach.
This day you will enjoy a visit to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, one of the world's largest private art collections. The Thyssen Museum, is part of the so called "Golden Triangle of Art", a set of the most representative museums in Madrid. Should you wish to have a guided tour, w e would be happy to arrange this for your group.
In the evening, enjoy dinner and relax at your accommodation.
Day 2 - Guided Walking Tour of Madrid, Royal Palace and Temple of Debod
Start your day with a guided walking tour of Madrid main sights. You will walk through the heart of the city and learn about the traditions and history while wandering around the Habsburg streets. We will take a close look at the Royal Palace, La Almudena Cathedral, Plaza de Oriente, Plaza Mayor, San Miguel Market and Puerta del Sol. Your tour will end at The Temple of Debod, the ancient Egyptian temple that was dismantled and rebuilt in Madrid as a gift from the Egyptian government in 1968.
In the afternoon, experience the authentic Spanish culture by participating in a Flamenco or Castanets class. You could also try a cooking class to learn traditional Spanish dishes or learn about the uniqueness of the Spanish guitar, its history and influence on the Spanish musical heritage.
Finish off the day witnessing the magic of the Spanish Flamenco dance and music by attending a traditional Flamenco show at one of the local restaurants.
Day 3 - Prado Museum, Reina Sofia Museum and Retiro Park
Today, get acquainted with Madrid's most iconic museums. You will start by visiting the Prado Museum, the main Spanish national art museum which reflects the history of Spain and Europe from 12th to the 20th century. Prado Museum offers a collection of works by world-famous artists such as Hieronymus Bosch, El Greco, Peter Paul Rubens, Titian, Diego Velázquez and many others.
This afternoon, continue immersing into Spanish art by visiting the Reina Sofia Museum, which focuses on the 20th century and is most famous for exhibiting the Pablo Picasso's Guernica.
Later on, enjoy a stroll in Madrid's largest former royal gardens of Retiro Park, one of Madrid's largest and liveliest parks.
This evening return to your accommodation for your evening meal. We could also arrange a fun bowling evening for your group (not included).
Day 4 - Fly Home
Depending on your flight time, spend your last morning in Madrid shopping for souvenirs and local specialities, at Calle Mayor or Mercado de San Antón.
Return to your accommodation to collect your luggage and transfer to the airport by coach.
