Arrive in Geneva and transfer to your hostel by coach. Here, you’ll meet your local guide who'll take you straight into the international district, where more than 200 global organisations attest to Geneva’s influence in both science and on the world stage. Known as "the Capital of Peace,” Geneva hosts the United Nations, the World Health Organisation, and humanitarian institutions including the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum and UNICEF. Visiting these institutions allows students to understand the global impact of scientific research and innovation on policy-making and public health. They can learn how scientific data and research influence international decisions on health, the environment, and technology.
A walking tour will also provide your first glimpse of the natural beauty of Geneva, with its proximity to the Alps and Lake Geneva.
Day 2 - CERN - full day excursion
Prepare for a mind-blowing day at CERN, Switzerland, the epicentre of cutting-edge scientific discovery! Just a short tram ride from central Geneva, CERN offers an immersive experience that takes you deep into the mysteries of the universe. Begin your CERN tour at the iconic Universe of Particles exhibition, where interactive displays and a captivating film reveal CERN's most astonishing achievements.
Then, board a bus and cross the border into France to explore SM18, a world-renowned facility where the secrets of superconducting magnets are unveiled. Get up close to a replica of the CERN Hadron Collider tunnel, and marvel at the science behind the world’s most powerful particle accelerator. Round off your day with a visit to the historic Synchrocyclotron, CERN's very first accelerator.
Day 3 - History of Science Museum
On your final day, take a leisurely walk along Lake Geneva’s picturesque promenade before delving into the fascinating world of scientific history. Choose between the History of Science Museum, which showcases the incredible instruments that revolutionised astronomy, meteorology, and electricity, or the Natural History Museum, where you can explore the natural processes that shape our world.
After a morning of discovery, take some time to reflect on your experiences before transferring to the airport for your flight home, filled with new knowledge and unforgettable memories.
