The use of terror was central to the rule of the Nazi regime. The SS, the police, the Gestapo as well as government agencies used coercion and terror to crush dissent and prevent opposition. In the Topography of Terror students learn about the central institutions of the police state and the crimes they committed across Europe. Students learn about how the Nazis took and maintained power in Germany, as well as the rule of the Nazis in the occupied territories.
