Day 1 - The art and architecture of Munich Old Town
Begin your design and technology school trip to Munich by exploring the Old Town. Orient yourself in the city, exploring its architecture and art and design landmarks with your expert TCBC guide. On this architecture tour of Munich, you’ll see the Old Town Hall, St Peter’s Church and Frauenkirche as well as the Munich Residenz, the former royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria, each architectural and design triumphs. Explore public monuments and methods of commemoration and remembrance in Marienplatz and Odeonsplatz.
This afternoon, have some free time strolling through Viktualienmarkt, Munich’s premier food market in the centre of the city. It’s home to a delicious range of traditional and modern German cuisine, as well as international highlights. Suitably fed, reunite with your TCBC guide to explore the design and architecture that give the market its unique landscape. Start with The Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit at Viktualienmarkt, one of Munich's oldest churches, before studying the statues and fountains in the middle of the market. There are six Munich personalities across the complex including comedian Karl Valentin and actress and cabaret performer Liesel Karlstadt. Head up to the Alter Peter viewing platform to look over the market and consider its design.
Have your evening meal in your accommodation before heading out bowling.
Day 2 - Design and manufacture at Audi Forum
This morning, board the coach and set out to the Audi Forum in Ingolstadt, one of the key engineering landmarks in Munich. The Audi Discovery Tour, “Fascination of Production” can be customised to focus on final assembly of vehicles, the manufacturing process, the whole body shop and final assembly (1hr 20) and even incorporate a 15 minute entertaining film. In groups of up to 20, you tour the production site with an experienced tour guide learning about design, manufacture and final product. It’s a unique and stimulating immersion in the process of car manufacture.
Return to Munich and head to the centre of the city to explore Kunstareal München, one of Europe’s most important cultural hubs. Located in the vibrant Maxvorstadt district, visitors will explore outdoor and indoor spaces across 500m2. Kunstareal München covers 5,000 years of cultural history in 18 museums and exhibition halls and 20 galleries. Allow students to explore the many architectural and cultural highlights including design from Ancient Egypt and modern technologies.

Dedicated to presenting the past, present and future of technology it explores developments in engineering and the natural sciences. Across 20 permanent exhibitions, students can explore astronautics, chemistry, robotics, atomic physics, aviation, bridges and hydraulic engineering and many, many more.
From here, it’s time to head out to visit the Olympic Park and BMW World. The Munich Olympic Stadium was commissioned for the 1972 Summer Games and then went on to be the home of Bayern Munich. On the same site you can visit BMW Welt.
