- Day
Day 1 - Arrive Aachen, Aachen walking tour
Take the Eurostar from London St Pancras International to Brussels Midi. Sitting on the Belgian-German border, Aachen is just a short ICE train from Brussels. As Germany’s westernmost city, students can travel easily to Aachen. Check in to the hostel before heading out for lunch.
This afternoon, orient yourself with a guided walking tour of Aachen. See it’s many sites with a professional tour guide: Aachen Cathedral dates from the 8th Century and was the first German site to be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; you can also see the Aachener Dom, a stunning Gothic church; don’t forget to pass Elisenbrunnen fountain, and see the city’s oldest houses.
This evening, relax with dinner at the hostel.
Day 2 - Deutsche Sprachschule, Aachen Christmas market
This morning it's time to sharpen your linguistic skills on this educational trip to Aachen. After breakfast at the hostel, walk for a class of German catered to your group's needs and abilities. Practise your shopping vocabulary - you’ll need it this afternoon!
After class, you can grab lunch in Aachen Old Town. Sample food from one of the many cafés and eateries.
This afternoon, it's time to visit Aachen Christmas Market. Cards, crafts, jewellery, local produce, and tasty snacks are all on offer. Make sure you take the time to taste the world-famous ‘Aachener Printen.’ They are traditional gingerbread, delicious served hot from the oven. There are traditional German decorations as well as international products, including Russian dolls and Mongolian wool, on offer.
After dinner back at the hostel, enjoy an evening at leisure.
Day 3 - Souvenir shopping, train home
Finish your trip to Aachen, Germany in the Old Town, with some free time to soak in its historic atmosphere and enjoy souvenir shopping.
After lunch, take the ICE train back to Brussels Midi before boarding the Eurostar train back to London St Pancras International.
