Day 1 - Arrive Lille, Vieux Lille
Arrive in Lille via Eurostar and transfer to your cosy accommodation, ready to soak in the festive atmosphere.
This afternoon, set out to explore the enchanting Vieux Lille, the Old Town. Wander through its picturesque cobbled streets and historic squares, where twinkling lights and festive decorations adorn every corner. Head straight to La Grand Place (Place Charles de Gaulle), the heart of Lille, where impressive buildings like the Vieille Bourse (Old Stock Exchange), La Voix du Nord building, and Théâtre du Nord add to the magical ambiance. With 4,000 shops in this historic centre, it’s the perfect place to start your Christmas shopping, discovering unique gifts and local crafts.
As evening falls, relax with a fun game of ten-pin bowling.
Day 2 - Guided Walking Tour and Christmas Market Magic
This morning, meet your TCBC guide for a guided walking tour of Lille. Discover the rich history of this charming city, including visits to the stunning Lille Cathedral (Basilique-Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille), the historic Rihour Palace, the quaint Hospice Comtesse Museum, the beautiful Saint Maurice Church, and the impressive Citadel of Lille. From the Citadel, take a short stroll to Lille Zoo, a small yet delightful spot in the heart of the city.
After working up an appetite, indulge in a culinary demonstration by a professional chef. Learn the art of crafting delicious holiday treats, from traditional waffles and artisan chocolates to classic French cheeses.
In the evening, wrap up warm and head to one of France’s most picturesque Christmas markets. At Place Rihour, the largest market in Northern France, with 80 charming stalls awaits you. Admire the 18-metre-tall Christmas tree, sample local delicacies, and find beautiful Christmas decorations. Savour regional specialties such as Maroilles cheese and babeluttes (soft caramels). For a breathtaking view of the city adorned in festive lights, take a ride on the Big Wheel.
Day 3 - Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Belfry Tower
Check out of your hotel and prepare for a day filled with more festive delights. Start with a visit to the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille, one of France’s largest art museums, housing an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and antiquities.
For lunch, head to Le Marché de Wazemmes, one of Lille’s largest and liveliest markets. Immerse yourself in the bustling atmosphere as you explore stalls brimming with fresh produce, clothing, and international foods—perfect for a festive feast.
In the afternoon, climb the Belfry Tower for a panoramic view of Lille. After ascending 109 steps and taking a lift, you’ll find yourself 104 metres above the city, with stunning views of the Pierre Mauroy stadium, the Lys Valley, and even the Monts de Flandres.
As your magical Christmas adventure in Lille comes to an end, board the coach for your journey home, your heart full of festive cheer and the spirit of the season.
