- Day
Day 1 - Arrive Tallinn
Fly to Tallinn and transfer to your hotel in the city centre by coach. Take in Lake Ülemiste and catch a glimpse of the historic Old Town sights as you drive in and relax before your first full day.
Day 2 - Guided walking tour, Peter the Great Museum, Kadriorg Palace
Meet your expert TCBC guide and walk directly to the Old Town for a tour of the medieval city, complete with its walls dating back to the 13th century. Your guide will direct you through cobbled streets and can deliver the tour in Russian, pitched at a level that suits your students. Take in the Middle Age Aida Street, the haunted Lühike Jalg, and visit Piiskopi Street to view both Toompea Castle, which houses the Estonian Parliament, and St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the main Russian Orthodox cathedral in Estonia.
This afternoon, explore the House of Peter the Great with a guided tour. This old palace hosted Tsar Peter I and his wife, Catherine, during their visits to Tallinn. As the oldest museum in Tallinn, students can see items belonging to the Tsar himself. The Tsar also bought the neighbouring estates and set about creating a new palace and park dedicated to his wife. This palace, Kadriorg, can also be explored. It is a stunning example of Baroque architecture and houses the Kadriorg Art Museum, which exhibits Western European and Russian art.
Round off a busy day with a cultural immersion at a Pelmeni masterclass and dinner. Pelmeni are Russian dumplings described as being at "the heart of Russian cuisine." Return to the hotel and relax.
Day 3 - Russian language lesson and KBG Museum
This morning is the first of your Russian language lessons for students. Matched to your students' abilities, this class will be centered around developing core vocabulary and speaking skills.
In the afternoon, students will develop their knowledge of Soviet Estonia and what it was like to live under the control of the USSR. A trip to the 23rd floor of the Sokos Hotel Viru transports students into the world of espionage. Now a museum, the hidden room here was once the KGB radio center that allowed Soviet spies to listen to foreign visitors within sixty of the hotel's rooms.
Return to the hotel for dinner, before a fun night of bowling.
Alternatively, expand your students' horizons further with a cultural exchange trip to Helsinki for the day.
Day 4 - Russian school visit and Flight Home
Today begins with your second language class. Over two 45-minute classes, students continue to develop their speaking and listening skills and become more relaxed in conversation. A Russian school visit for your students to practice their new language skills with Russian speakers can be included.
Armed with their new-found confidence, venture out into the Old Town to put your skills to good use. Practice ordering food and drink, buying souvenirs, or take some last-minute photographs amongst the scenic Old Town surroundings.
From here, transfer by coach to the airport and fly home after an incredible trip.
Счастливого пути!
