Passports
It's important to check the expiry dates of all travellers' passports well in advance of departure as all destinations have different entry requirements.
The following information is relevant only for British citizens and UK passport holders.

If you need to apply for a UK passport, you can easily do this online
You can also apply by post. You can pick up passport application forms from your local Post Office where you can take advantage of the Post Office Check and Send service
The process should take roughly 6 weeks but it may take longer. However, if you are planning to renew a passport, getting a child passport, or updating from a child to an adult passport, the process takes on average 3 weeks.
There is also a one week fast track service and one day premium service available, however an appointment for these must be made at a Passport Customer Services Centre. There are additional fees for these expedited services.
There are strict rules and criteria regarding the photos you submit for your passport. These must be followed stringently or they may not be accepted and the whole process may need to be repeated.

Europe
Passports for British citizens are valid for travel to any EU country up to and including the passport expiry date. However, we recommend that you have at least three months validity date on your passport as some countries may vary slightly.
USA
Visitors travelling to the United States are required to be in possession of passports that are valid for six months beyond the period of their intended stay in the United States.
China
To enter China, a passport with at least six months' validity is required.
