Krakow inspection visit June 2019

This June, TCBC invited 6 teachers to Krakow on a 3 day inspection visit. These teachers, from schools across the UK, had one thing in common - they all wanted to take their students to Krakow but didn’t know the city well enough to confidently run a trip there.

Over the course of the 3 days, TCBC was able to change that. All participants returned home with not only the knowledge and confidence to run the trip, but also with renewed motivation and enthusiasm to get started asap.

The group stayed at a hotel in the Old Town we use for our school tours and on Day 1 we were able to inspect 3 more hotels to compare and contrast. It was great for the teachers to get a sense of location, room quality and hotel facilities.

We introduced the teachers to our local partners in Krakow who were able to showcase their organisational and guiding skills with a series of tours. The teachers experienced Galicia Jewish Museum, Schindler’s Factory, guided tours of the Jewish Quarter and the Old Town, Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mines.

We were also able to pop into the fantastically fun Pinball Museum, see a Lego exhibition on the history of Poland and fit in a few rounds of bowling whilst dining both nights at restaurants we use on our school tours.

The trip was a huge success, helped also by the weather with all 3 days soaked in glorious sunshine.

TCBC will be running more inspection visits so please keep an eye out for our emails.

Krakow inspection visit teacher feedback

"I have travelled with other tour companies before, but none of them compare to the level of organisation that I experienced while on this trip. I would not use another tour company now after experiencing the 'slickness' of TCBC”

Wendy Walmsley, History Teacher and Learning Leader
Salford City College

"Taking an inspection trip with TCBC has further confirmed my confidence in their expertise and professionalism, gained from several successful visits to Berlin. Travelling with them allows me to organise and run visits with a minimum of problems, and with the knowledge that everything needed is taken care of by their top-class team. I now think of them as a partner in providing our school visits; they're far more than a company we just use, and I wouldn't travel with anyone else.”

Paul Easterbrook, Head of Year, History & Politics Teacher
Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys

"The trip offered the chance to not only experience the kinds of excursions on offer from a student perspective, but also the TCBC representatives were on hand to advise on any teacher related technical aspects of the trips. For instance, without seeing the hotels I would probably have made a very different choice to the one i am now planning on using in April.”

Paul Bromley, Head of Humanities
Windermere School

"The inspection trip was a great opportunity to see what the company were all about and what could be offered. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be looking to book a visit with TCBC next year.”

Michelle Osborne, Head of Humanities
Djanogly City Academy

"TCBC know their stuff. They are experts in tailoring school trips to your needs to make sure your students' experience of studying history in the classroom comes to life.”

Steve Mastin, History Teacher & Education Consultant

"Having never been to Krakow before, the inspection trip gave us the opportunity to see various historical sites and museums and how they could be used for our students - no leap of faith or guessing. Now we can plan our trip fully armed with all the information we need to give the students a fantastic educational experience.”
