Ulster Tower

The Ulster Tower is a memorial to the men of the 36th (Ulster) Division, who attacked from the British Front Lines on the 1st July 1916 suffering heavy losses. It is a very close copy of Helen's Tower which stands in the grounds of Clandeboye Estate, where many men of the Division trained. The Division would go on to win nine Victoria Crosses during the Somme offensive and at the entrance to the Tower is a plaque commemorating their names.
