Relevant to students of Physical Landscapes
This iconic waterfall allows students to study fluvial processes and erosion. It is in the river Seljalandsá, about 30 km west of Skógar. They can walk behind the 60-metre waterfall, observing the rock formations and the effects of water flow on the landscape, providing a hands-on experience with geomorphology. A few hundred metres north also lies the “secret” waterfall, Gljúfrabúi, hidden behind a rocky crevice and absolutely worth a visit.
