King Edward's School, Birmingham in Istanbul
"A cultural rather than academic experience"
Paul Golightly, Head of History at King Edward's School, Birmingham recently took 17 of his History A-level students to Istanbul with us. Paul felt that although helping with their A-level studies the main benefit of the trip was cultural rather than academic.
For Paul the trip exceeded expectations. "It was fantastic - everything we did and saw was really interesting. There was a real wow factor at the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Archaeological Museum.” KES also enjoyed a cruise along the Bosphorus and experienced a real Turkish bath. The folk evening of bellydancing and traditional music was unintentionally hilarious.
Overall Paul’s favourite memory was the “genuine pleasure all the boys got from one of the sights or one of the activities they undertook. There was something in it for everyone and a trip they will never forget."
Paul, in his own words, is "committed to taking another trip to Istanbul as a result of the good time we had. We felt in very safe hands with TCBC."
